Humans have been telling stories since the beginning of time. Capturing these stories in a book form is a way to preserve them for the next generation. The Book With No Pictures, by B.J. Novak, is a funny and unique read-aloud experience that can be read by anyone. I chose to retell this story because of its unique take on a children's book. Rather than displaying images or making the book illustration-focused, this book emphasizes on typography. My direction was to hand-illustrate some of the keywords that stood out within the book to add to its playfulness and true silliness. The redesign even grabbed some recognition from the author himself. Much appreciated Novak!
